4 - The Battle Within

Walking in the Spirit

Key Scriptures
Galatians 5:16–17
Romans 8:5–6

Devotional

Every believer experiences an inner tension. Not a problem to solve but rather a tension to manage, every single day.

The Bible describes it as a struggle between the flesh and the Spirit.

The flesh represents our old nature - selfish desires, pride, and unhealthy habits.

The Spirit represents the new life God is forming in us.

This tension is not a sign of failure; it is evidence that transformation is happening.

Victory comes not through self-effort but through surrender to the Spirit’s leadership.

The more we cultivate our relationship with God, the stronger our spiritual life becomes.

“The chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.”

  • Samuel Johnson

Holy Spirit, lead my life. Help me recognise the areas where I need Your strength and wisdom. Teach me to walk closely with You. Amen.
